Our Mission
ARC Farm promotes sustainable agriculture, providing community access to farmland and food production, and advancing agricultural education in the communities it serves. ARC Farm recognizes the vital connection between land, culture, and creative expression, and is committed to fostering arts and culture programming that celebrates and amplifies diverse community voices, and uses creative practice as a tool for environmental and social engagement. We collaborate on artistic, cultural, and educational events, residencies, installations, and programming to advance our values.
Year One: Roots
In our first year, we break ground. Literally.
We will complete construction of a workshop and main gathering space at the heart of the farm. A flexible, beautiful building that will immediately serve as the hub of ARC Farm life. This space will host art workshops, community meetings, performances, and celebrations.
We will also launch our first work/camping events on the land, welcoming the community to sleep under the stars, gather around fires, and experience ARC Farm as the living, breathing place it already is. These events will generate revenue, build our donor base, and make real what might otherwise feel like a dream.
Farm operations begin with community workdays, volunteer stewardship, and fresh food in community hands.
Year Two: Deepening
With our roots established, Year Two is about deepening the infrastructure of care.
We will build a shared kitchen, making it possible to feed people well at every gathering and opening the door to food-centered programming, cooking workshops, and a deeper integration of the farm's harvest into community life.
We will also complete a bathhouse, a necessity that makes extended stays and camping events possible at a larger scale. With these two additions, ARC Farm becomes a place people can truly live in for days at a time, not just visit for an afternoon.
Artist residencies launch in Year Two, bringing queer and trans creators onto the land for sustained, supported creative time.
Year Three: A Place to Stay
By Year Three, ARC Farm becomes a destination.
We will install small cottages and guest trailers on the land, creating comfortable, affordable overnight accommodation for visiting artists, community members traveling from outside the region, and anyone who needs a few days of rest in an affirming place. Combined with our established camping program, ARC Farm will offer a full spectrum of ways to be on the land from a weekend tent to a private cottage residency.
A signature annual festival will anchor the calendar, drawing the wider LGBTQ+ community from across California and beyond.
Revenue Model
ARC Farm pursues a diversified funding model built to grow with us:
Grants and Foundations — LGBTQ+ focused funders, arts and culture foundations, food justice and environmental funders, and Sonoma County and Bay Area community foundations.
Individual Donors — You. Grassroots fundraising anchored by our first campaign, growing into a major donor program over time.
Earned Revenue — Camping event tickets, farm share subscriptions, space rental, artist residency fees (offered on a subsidized and full-pay tier basis), and ticketed public events.
Government Funding — Local, state, and federal grants for arts programming, food access, agricultural development, and LGBTQ+ services.
Capital Campaigns — Dedicated fundraising for each building phase, allowing donors to contribute directly to the physical infrastructure of the farm.
